Sealed Air has created a new anti fog plastic film made entirely of Certified Circular Resins (CCR) as part of its ongoing effort to achieve 100 percent recyclable or reusable packaging by 2025.
The new CRYOVAC Brand rBDF S10 Film is created with up to 30% food-grade CCR that has been certified by the International Sustainability & Carbon Certification (ISCC) — an independent organization that accredits circular economy materials and processes.
Along with its recycled plastic content, Sealed Air claims that their CRYOVAC Brand rBDF S10 Film can assist food manufacturers increase their sustainability even further due to its ultrathin barrier. It is estimated to be a third lighter than commonly used HFFS packs and three times thinner than other thermoformable films at 21 microns.
“The novel application of CCR in CRYOVAC Brand rBDF S10 Film perfectly compliments the shrink packaging's ultra-thin, high resistance, and anti-fog performance,” stated Arnaud Brunet, fluids and adjacent markets platform director at Sealed Air. Together, these elements provide a packaging system that is well-aligned with a circular economy's goal of reducing waste and increasing resourcefulness.”
According to Sealed Air, the new film's high gloss finish and transparent clarity might assist improve the presentation of food, hence increasing sales and reducing waste. Meanwhile, the company notes that leak-proof closures, hermetic sealing, and a protective barrier all help to reduce waste by preserving the integrity of food and increasing its shelf life.
rBD S10 Film from CRYOVAC Brand can be used to wrap items with or without trays. The modified atmosphere overwrap film is ideal for fresh red meat, poultry, and fish, as well as smoked and processed meat, cheese, convenience foods, and ready meals.
